Freestanding Dual Vanity Unit
For a recent bathroom renovation project we were asked to come up with a dual vanity unit that could be used as the central theme for the rest of the room.
The previous bathroom was poorly constructed and despite its relatively large size, used one central waste system that left a bad smell in the room.
On top of the new designer features, the room therefore had to be re-plumbed with new toilet, shower and bath wastes introduced to solve the plumbing issues.
We also had to lower the ceiling level to introduce new lighting, insulate the walls and widen the bathroom door to fit with the rest of the house.
Early on we decided to use a high gloss grey paint on the vanity unit to give it a high end hotel feel without becoming too garish. We then replicated the same high gloss paint finish in the back of three backlit recessed shelves to the right of the unit to give the free standing vanity unit a more integrated feel.
The dual vanity unit itself was designed to have inset Corian bowls, with a secondary lower shelf above two soft close drawers to place small towels on.
The underside of the bowls and waste pipes would be covered by a vanity panel to match the drawers below. Above the vanity unit we placed a bespoke yet simple mirror that matched it in width.
Elsewhere in the room we installed a freestanding slipper bath with unique designer tap just below their large window, will moving the toilet to the far end of the room and encasing it in the wall to make it hidden from immediate view.
The room was completed by a 1400 plain glass shower with chrome hinges, a recessed thermostatic valve, large fixed head and useful flexi attachment.
To reinforce the grey from the vanity unit and recessed shelving we surrounded the shower area in light grey mosaic tiles and coupled the white walls with an off white floor.
This unit is a great example of how a piece of furniture can become intertwined with the theme of a bathroom design, although if you want something similar don't think that you are constrained by its proportions. Our colour match systems and bespoke production capabilities mean you can have it any width, depth or colour you want!
